The TIME In Between

In the Bible there are three Main Holy Feasts to God and His People and they are The Feast of Passover, The Feast of Pentecost and The Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot.  We are now in the midst of two Major Feasts of God, this is for all of God's People!  We are now in the CENTER of TWO of these Major Feasts!  We are now between The Feast of Passover and The Feast of Pentecost!

So, what happened in Jesus' day as He was walking the Earth between Passover and Pentecost?  First, He appeared to several people, many times between Passover and Pentecost!  We see in Mark 16:9-14 (NIV) that, "When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. 10 She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping. 11 When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it. 12 Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country. 13 These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either. (SEE also Luke 24:13-32 about these two.) 14 Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who has seen him after he had risen."  We also find in Luke 24:33-36 (NIV), " . . . There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon." 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread. 36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."

Receive The Holy Spirit

Our Lord Jesus manifested Himself before His Disciples between Passover and Pentecost, which is the time we are in right now in this year of 2017.

And on one occasion of His several appearances we find in John 20:19-23 (AMPC) something that was extraordinary!  "Then on that same first day of the week, when it was evening, though the disciples were behind closed doors for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, Peace to you! 20 So saying, He showed them His hands and His side. And when the disciples saw the Lord, they were filled with joy (delight, exultation, ecstasy, rapture). 21 Then Jesus said to them again, Peace to you! [Just] as the Father has sent Me forth, so I am sending you. 22 And having said this, He breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit! 23 [Now having received the Holy Spirit, and being led and directed by Him] if you forgive the sins of anyone, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of anyone, they are retained."

What just happened there?  The Disciples just experienced something brand new!  They were the first people to receive and have The Holy Spirit come to live on the inside of them!  They were the first to experience what happens to someone when they receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!  They believed in Jesus.  And since Jesus had paid for our salvation package through all that He went through just days prior - they were the first to actually have The Holy Spirit, God Himself come to live on the inside of them!  They "received the Holy Spirit," and "Now" could be "led and directed by Him!"  And when did this happen?  It happened between The Feast of Passover and The Feast of Pentecost.

THE NEXT FORTY DAYS

Just a few pages over from John 20 we turn over to the Book of Acts.  And we find that Jesus is once again with His disciples.  For we find in Acts 1:3-5 (AMPC) these Words,  "To them also He showed Himself alive after His passion (His suffering in the garden and on the cross) by [a series of] many convincing demonstrations [unquestionable evidences and infallible proofs], appearing to them during forty days and talking [to them] about the things of the kingdom of God. 4 And while being in their company and eating with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait for what the Father had promised, Of which [He said] you have heard Me speak.  (The NIV translates Acts 1:4, "On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.)" 5 For John baptized with water, BUT NOT MANY DAYS FROM NOW you shall be baptized with, placed in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit."

Then in Acts 1:8-9 (AMPC) we see a description of what happens when this "gift" of being baptized with The Holy Spirit, manifests. "But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth. 9 And when He said this, even as they were looking [at Him], He was caught up, and a cloud received and carried Him away out of their sight."

NOT MANY DAYS
FROM NOW

Jesus, before He left planet Earth, gave His Disciples some very specific instructions didn't He?  He said, "wait for the gift."  He said, "but not many days from now."  He was saying that some time was going to pass before this gift was going to come.  And it would be a few days from when He was giving these instructions to His Disciples.  Now, let's really look at this.  We have already seen that the Disciples received The Holy Spirit in John 20:19-23.  This was when Jesus was present in the room with the Disciples and He breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit!"  And at that point they received The Holy Spirit.

So, Jesus is talking about a whole other encounter with The Holy Spirit on this occasion when He instructs the Disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the gift that was to come.  We are also told by The Word that when this separate encounter would happen that there would be "power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, . . . "  The Amplified Translation lets us see that in John 20:22-23 when Jesus breathed on the disciples, they received The Holy Spirit and He came to live on the inside of them, that they could be " . . . led and directed by Him] . . "

Then in the other encounter that Jesus tells us we can have with The Holy Spirit in Acts 1:3-5 and verses 8-9, the Amplified Translation shows us that in this separate experience you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, . . ."  Now remember, this second description is when Jesus is telling His Disciples that in a few days the gift shall come.  The Disciples have already received The Holy Spirit.  Jesus then tells them to wait a few days for the Gift of The Baptism of The Holy Spirit!

THERE IS SO MUCH MORE!

You may be thinking, Sister Jamie, I never knew that there was a separate experience that I could have with The Holy Spirit!  I totally know what you mean!  Dewayne and I went for years, being Christians and not knowing about this amazing encounter.  The Holy Spirit lived inside of us, just like John 20:19-23 told us HE would when we received Jesus as Lord and Savior.  But we were only being "led or directed" by The Holy Spirit.  We needed the promised manifestation of The Baptism of The Holy Spirit to give us "power (ability, efficiency, and might)!"  And just like we needed it and need it NOW, so do you!  Especially, living in these Last Days, we need The Power of The Holy Spirit!

Now, that we know there is a separate encounter with The Holy Spirit, we have to do first things first.  So, first you have to be "born again" or "saved."  Romans 10:9-10 tells us, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."  So, if you have never given your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him, give Him your life today.  Just say this prayer to Him and mean it with all your heart:

"Jesus, I know I have done wrong and that I am a sinner and I need a Savior.  I believe you died on a cross for my sins, you were buried for three days and then rose from the dead.  I ask you to come into my life and save me, free me and clean me.  I confess today that you are Lord of my life.  I will follow you for the rest of my days, in Jesus Name, I believe I receive.  Amen"

And once you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, it is The Will of The Lord for you to have the fullness of The Holy Spirit.  In Acts 2:4 when the Disciples were baptized in The Holy Spirit there was evidence of it!  "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."  When you are baptized in the Holy Spirit you will have evidence of it by speaking in tongues just like they did at The Feast of Pentecost.  If you desire the infilling of The Holy Spirit, pray this prayer and believe you receive:

"Lord, Jesus, I am a Born Again Believer and a child of Yours!  Jesus, I ask you to baptize me in The Holy Spirit and enable me to be a powerful witness to the World about you.  I believe that I receive this Gift just like the disciples did on the day of Pentecost with evidence of speaking in tongues in Jesus Name.  Thank You Jesus!"
